Confession Guide

✝️ Confession Guide for Adults – Examination of Conscience
1. I am the Lord your God.
Do I give God time every day in prayer? Do I love Him with my whole heart? Have I practiced superstition or occult activities? Have I received communion in mortal sin? Are there other "gods" in my life — money, power, people?

2. You shall not take the Lord's name in vain.
Have I used God's name carelessly? Have I insulted sacred persons or objects?

3. Keep holy the Lord’s Day.
Have I missed Sunday Mass deliberately? Do I observe Sunday as a day of rest and family?

4. Honor your father and mother.
Do I bring peace into my home? Do I care for family responsibilities?

5. You shall not kill.
Have I harmed anyone physically or emotionally? Have I held hatred or resentment?

6. You shall not commit adultery.
Have I been faithful in thoughts and actions? Do I strive for purity and modesty?

7. You shall not steal.
Have I taken what is not mine? Do I share with the poor?

8. You shall not bear false witness.
Have I lied, gossiped, or damaged reputations?

9–10. Do I struggle with jealousy, impurity, or greed?
🙏 How to go to Confession
1. Choose anonymous or face-to-face confession.
2. Make the Sign of the Cross and say: “Bless me Father for I have sinned…”
3. Confess simply and honestly.
4. Listen to the priest and accept penance.
5. Pray the Act of Contrition.
6. Thank God for His mercy.
Prayer Before Confession

O most merciful God, I sincerely desire to leave my evil ways and confess my sins with all sincerity. Mary, refuge of sinners, pray for me. Amen.

Act of Contrition

Oh my God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. In Jesus’ name, have mercy. Amen.
